Queen Iocaste desires to have a child. King Laios keeps secrets. The inhabitants of Thebes are counting the victims of bloodthirsty Sphinx. A disaster is looming ahead.

King Oedipus opts for transparency in politics. Queen Iocaste refuses to learn about the past. Thebans are counting the dead during plague. A catastrophe is impending.

Princess Antigone would love to know her father. The blind Oedipus doesn’t want to be a burden to others. Calm reigns over Thebes; it’s the calm before the storm. How come that all are so blind?

The trilogy encompasses the play Laios by Hana Lehečková directed by Zuzana Burianová, the iconic tragedy King Oedipus by Sophocles (translated by Petr Borkovec and Matyáš Havrda) under the direction of Ivo Kristián Kubák, and the dance libretto The Abyss by Marie Nováková and Václav Kuneš.

A co-production project involving Tygr v Tísni, VILLA Štvanice and the Theatre World Brno Festival.
