DON’T MISS THIS YEAR’S OFF PROGRAM, WHICH WILL OFFER A LOT OF GREAT EXPERIENCES

Your attention should not miss this year’s OFF programme, which consists of three lines – Open Air, Accompanying programme and Industry programme.

Open Air
The festival programme will once again start with an outdoor site-specific production of DNA on the piazzetta of the Janáček Theatre. Then we will move to Moravské náměstí, where we will offer you the opportunity to plunge into the waves of the theatrical world. You can start the morning with a special theatre yoga with the actors of the Brno Municipal Theatre. In the afternoon, a unique theatre playground Figurkov from the workshop of Líšeň Theatre will come to life in the whole area of Moravské náměstí. For the little ones there will be short fairy tales prepared by JAMU students from the Theatre and Education for the Deaf Studio every day, and in the evening the park space will belong to dance and movement performances by foreign JAMU students and the junior Ballet NdB 2. At the end of the open air programme, the Visitors from the Deep Oceans – luminous six-metre puppets of marine animals from the underwater world – will float into the Green Market and the city centre.

Supporting programme
This year’s edition will start with a debate with Studion N live on the topic of Barriers. In addition, this year there will be an accompanying programme to selected performances. You can look forward to lecturer introductions, workshops for children and debates with the creators. Before the premiere of Hamlet at the Mahen Theatre, you will also be able to attend a discussion with Prof. Martin Hilský, a world-renowned expert on the works of William Shakespeare, the author who translated the complete works of the English “bard”. The accompanying programme will end on 28 May with a debate with the editor-in-chief of the weekly Respekt, Erik Tabery, who will discuss the crisis of Slovak culture with his guests.

Industry programme
The Industry programme will include workshops, forums and much more for people from the theatre industry. At the same time, this year the festival will host the 30th World Congress of the International Association of Theatre Critics
