ABOUT THEATRE

A professional theatre for children and young people founded in 1949. Its founder and first director was the teacher and amateur puppeteer, Vladimír Matoušek. He a significant figure in the inter-war generation of Czech puppeteers. Radost Theatre focuses on collaborations with important Czech and European creators. The uniqueness of the theatre is in the use of puppets, in the widest sense, with musical accompaniment in order to create an emphatically creative scene. The repertoire of the theatre is aimed at children from infants through young people and adults – in three theatre spaces, the small theatre, the large theatre and the boat space.
